Factors that affect car insurance rates

These insurers personalize the premium based on a number of important factors, including:

  • Where you are living
  • What kind of car you are driving
  • your car history and driving breaches?
  • Your age and sex
  • Your loan value
  • Your marital condition
  • How far a year you drive
  • Your insurance claims history

In addition, the coverage that you purchase depends on the car insurance rates. Some people want barebone coverage and buy just what the state law requires. Others want special insurance in the event that their vehicle is stolen or on the roadside. Adding additional forms of coverage to your car coverage raises your coverage cost.

Methodology

Quadrant Information Services were used by CompareInsurance to analyze prices for all ZIP codes and carriers in the 50 States and Washington, D.C. Quoted rates are based on the 40-year-old driver who has a clean background, strong credit and full coverage of the following:

  • $100,000 bodily injury liability per person
  • $300,000 bodily injury liability per accident
  • $50,000 property damage liability per accident
  • $100,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per person
  • $300,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per accident
  • $500 collision deductible
  • $500 comprehensive deductible

The CompareInsurance used minimum coverages that meet each State's standards to define minimum coverage limits. Our sample drivers have a Honda Agreement for 2018, travel 5 days a week, drive 12,000 miles a year.

These are sample rates, which can only be used in comparison. It might be different with your quotations.
